Test your national visibility with these simple searches:

Open an incognito window and search your main service plus “Cape Town.” For example: “bookkeeper Cape Town” or “HR consulting Cape Town.” Does your website appear on page 1?

Repeat the same search for “Durban” and then “Pretoria.” If you appear for Pretoria but not the other cities, you only rank locally, not nationally.

In Google Search Console, click “Search results” and then filter by “Pages.” Look for how many different city names appear in your top-performing queries. If you only see your home city, you have no national SEO presence.

Visit your website and count how many location-specific pages you have. For example, do you have separate pages for your service in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, and Pretoria? If you have only one generic page, Google won’t rank you in cities you haven’t targeted.
